This is one of the popular federal programs for people who are self-employed in the cultural or athletics field. Professionals such as authors, journalists, musicians, actors, photographers etc. can apply under this program. Below is a list of eligible occupations considered under this program:

Requisites for the Self-employed Program:
-
Intention and ability to make a Significant Contribution to Specific Economic Activities
-
Need a minimum of 35 points out of 100 in the scoring grid
-
Minimum experience in cultural activities or athletics which can be 2 one-year periods being self-employed in cultural activities/athletics, or 2 one-year periods participating at a world-class level in cultural activities/athletics, or a combination of a one-year period as self-employed and a one-year period at a world-class level in cultural activities/athletics

Must be willing and able to be self-employed in Canada

Must have a Bachelor’s/Master’s/Doctorate qualification as applicable to the respective field
-
In the age group of 17-53 years
-
Fluency in English/ French or both
-
Must not be ‘inadmissible’ to Canada
-
Must have Patience – due to longer processing times
